Superlative January
We described last January as “truly exceptional with record sales but barely increased support activity” so what to say about
January 2012? Well it was our second best sales month EVER with sales three times those of the previous January. At the time of
writing there are still 1.5 days left to the end of the tax season and HMRC have yet to release their filing stats but we expect
similarly impressive increases there too. All this with no major increase in support activity and the team consistently meeting
their rigorous 3 hour response target.

A Very Happy New Year!
A bumper crop of orders in the first week of January suggests 2012 will be a vintage year at BTCSoftware. Sixteen new customers in just four days and many more evaluating prior to a switch after January have certainly kept us busy. But Support is operating as smoothly as ever. Our development team are busy too, as we always like to launch the new tax year’s versions of our SA & PM Solutions as early as possible. Thereafter they will be concentrating on a range of new features – many of which have been suggested by our users. We will also be welcoming a new addition to the team this month.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our existing and future customers a busy and successful year and look forward to helping you save and prosper in the year ahead, from all the team at BTCSoftware, where quality software need not be expensive.

Key Developments to our CT Solutions
Completing returns using either of our CT Solutions just got even easier.
Our development team have cleverly harnessed the information from your iXBRL final accounts file to automatically populate the CT600 return.
Users of our PM Solution can already import such details such as Company Name,
Registration Number & Period, and this new feature now does this for those just
using CT Solution or the Express version as well as adding such information as Turnover,
Profit/Loss, Depreciation, Entertainment, Investment Income, Franked Investment Income
and Profit/Loss on Sale. In addition CT Solution Express now includes Industrial
Buildings Allowances. Both CT Solution & CT Solution Express are also now fully enabled
for online filing for all post March 2011 year end returns in line with the HMRC Gateway
changes expected on October 11th. Further enhancements to CT Solution include new schedules
for Capital Allowances re Investment Businesses and Property Businesses and improvements to the R&D Schedule.
With recent HMRC figures for online filing of corporation tax returns using these products showing first time success
rates of over 99% - yet more proof that quality software need not be expensive.

Companies House Filing
In line with our policy of continual improvement BTCSoftware are pleased to announce
that PM Solution is now authorised
by Companies House for the online filing of accounts. This is something our users have been asking for and represents
a logical progression following our hugely successful introduction of iXBRL filing of corporation tax returns with HMRC.
Given our growing presence in the SME practitioner market, Companies House were also keen to see us introduce this feature.

New 2011 CT Solutions Released
The 2011 versions of our
CT Solution
& CT Solution Express
products are now available for
evaluation
and purchase.
Both are fully iXBRL compatible. HMRC’s latest statistics show an overall first time success rate of over 97% for online CT600 returns filed using our CT Solutions. This is well ahead of the industry average and exactly mirrors the success rate for our self-assessment returns over the same period.

The Sun is Shining
This April was definitely our hottest ever. Despite all those bank holidays we welcomed three times as many new customers as in April 2010.
This after a sensational March in which HMRC reported that users of our CT Solutions filed nine times the number of CT 600 returns online
than the previous year. Furthermore over 75% of those online returns were in the new iXBRL format and achieved an exceptional 99.5% first
time success rate.
Proof positive that quality online filing with iXBRL need not be overly complex or expensive.

HMRC iXBRL Gateway is Live
April 1st 2011 was not just another April Fools day, nor just simply a start to yet another Corporation Tax year.
As from April 1st 2011, all Corporation Tax returns must be filed with iXBRL Accounts and Computations. Of course, this could be the
biggest April Fools joke since the spaghetti tree, but we doubt it. Unless you have a really good reason (and trust us, you don't) your CT
returns must be filed with iXBRL.
Moreover, and something that seems to have passed a lot of people by, this also means that all CT returns have to be filed online. Gone
are the days of paper returns accompanied by reams of paper accounts and computations. Online filing is mandatory unless, again, you have
a really good reason for not doing so. Perhaps you live in a lighthouse without even a dialup internet connection? That might be accepted
as a good reason, but don't rely on it.
Now for the good news. At BTCSoftware we've been working hard to take the sting out of iXBRL. Both of our CT products,
CT Solution Express and
CT Solution, are recognised by
HMRC as iXBRL Integrated Software Applications for
the production of iXBRL Computations and the submission of iXBRL Accounts and iXBRL Computations. The computations are

We have completed the new iXBRL version of CT Solution Express well ahead of the April switchover deadline.
It is now available to download as a free upgrade for existing users
and we've even kept the price the same for new customers.

BTCSoftware Demystifyies iXBRL
As you probably know, after March 31st 2011, all Corporation Tax Returns have to be filed online with Accounts and Computations attached in iXBRL format.
Don’t be fooled by all of the jargon – an iXBRL file is just a special kind of text file which enables data to be read both by humans and computers.
There are a lot of people out there using confusing jargon and in some cases suggesting you need to incur large bills to implement iXBRL solutions and
good luck to them. At BTCSoftware we are just getting on with the task in hand and enhancing our existing CT Solutions to make them fully iXBRL compliant,
at no additional cost. Our solutions have been able to submit iXBRL accounts and computations files since November 2009 and they will produce and be HMRC
accredited for iXBRL computation production by the end of 2010. All existing users of our 2010 CT Solution products will receive this update free of charge
proving our adage once again that Quality Software Need Not Be Expensive.
And don’t forget that, in addition to the requirement to have computations in the new iXBRL file format, after March 31st 2011 ALL Corporation Tax Returns
have to be filed online. This is a major change which has been cleverly slipped in under the radar by HMRC. There are still many practitioners and corporates
