The package currently has two purposes. The first is to automate the entry of a company’s trial balance into a VT Final
Accounts workbook and the second is to record year end adjustment journals that will automatically update the VT Final
Accounts extended trial balance, that can be printed out in conventional format and that can also be exported to file
whose format is suitable for importing back into the original accounting application.
Automatic Trial Balance Entry
This feature enables you to automatically import a trial balance from
an accounting application (e.g. Sage, Mamut, etc.) directly into the appropriate cells on the VT Final Accounts
Trial Balance worksheet.
The Chart of Accounts from the accounting application
is first “mapped” to the VT Final Accounts workbook and then the trial balance data can be imported from the accounting
application into the VT Final Accounts workbook. Thus VT Solution can be used with
VT Final Accounts and any accounting package that allows a trial balance to be exported in the form of a .csv file.
In addition, once the mapping has been creating it can be used for subsequent years. There is even
an edit/update facility that allows for new nominal codes to be present in the accounting application’s chart of accounts and also for new user headings to have been created in the VT Final Accounts workbook.
Finally, there are analysis routines which enable the mapping of the imported trial balance to Final Accounts workbook Account Headings to be viewed and/or printed. This can be produced as an overview or in detail for a given VT Final Accounts workbook Trial Balance Heading or Section.
Journals
This feature enables year end adjustments to be made to the VT Trial Balance worksheet in a structured manner and allows the journals to be presented either in a printed report or as a file for import back into the original accounting application.
Journals are created from within the VT Final Accounts workbook using our dedicated form which links each adjustment to its originating chart of accounts code. Once the Journals have been entered, they are checked for accuracy (balance, etc) and automatically written to the VT Trial Balance worksheet.
Once created, it is possible to amend the Journals either using the dedicated dialog or, if preferred, amend them directly on the VT Trial Balance worksheet. Once the Final Accounts workbook is finalised, the Journal entries can be printed, emailed or exported and thus fed back to the originating accounts system.
