How to submit an amended tax return to HMRC

To submit an amended Self-Assessment return:

• Open the return that you need to amend
• From the Summary screen, choose Edit Record on the top toolbar
• Make the changes to the return, then check and calculate it
• Choose Submit to HMRC and follow the prompt to submit as an amended return

To submit an amended Corporation Tax return:

• Open the return that you need to amend
• From the Summary screen, choose Open CT Comp & CT600
• Make the changes to the return, then check and generate the xbrl
• Choose Submit to HMRC and follow the prompt to submit as an amended return

If the original return was not submitted using BTCSoftware:

• Create a new tax return and complete the forms as necessary
• Check the return
• On the Return summary screen, click Submit to HMRC
• In the submission dialogue, tick the ‘Enable Submit…’ checkbox
• Hold down the shift key and while still holding it click Submit to force the submission of an amended return
