House of Lords seeks further MTD evidence

MTD data security concerns grow

Making Tax Digital (MTD) has created much angst and debate in the accountancy practice market to say the least. Rest assured though that the team at BTCSoftware are currently working with HMRC and have done since the introduction of the concept, please see the article Prepare your Practice for Agent Services.Making Tax Digital MTD - MTD HMRC Wide

We are part of the software developer community HMRC consults as they test new functionality in MTD’s creation. And as these new developments are finalised, we incorporate them into our software to coincide with them becoming live at HMRC.

Our involvement with HMRC enables us to remain fully up to date with the changes as they are released. We will continue this proactive working partnership with Brigid McBride OBE (Deputy Director, HMRC Digital Service), Lee Hawksworth (Head of Software Developer Collaboration at HMRC) and their teams.

It is important to stress that even HMRC’s plans are not finalised or even close to being fully defined.  We are also waiting to hear what changes and new approaches the replacement for Mark Dearnley (Chief Digital and Information Officer at HMRC) will initiate, once they’re in post.

Needless to say the BTCSoftware team are following HMRC’s MTD programme’s every movement. We can assure you that our software will be fully compliant and ready in time for all releases of their new strategy.

As HMRC develops its MTD approach, we are awaiting the January statement (especially given the Treasury’s damning report) as to what alterations to the timetable and thresholds HMRC plan to make – watch this space for future updates.
